FUNCTIONS OF THE PATHWAY:

These are related to reproductive functions. Its principal task is to conceive life and nourish the foetus.

This yin unpaired pathway belongs to the system of special pathways. It connects and controls all yin pathways. It has two branches. The superficial branch leads from the lower half of the body through the centre of the torso upwards across the throat. It penetrates below the lower jaw through the chin and finally forks out below both eyes. The internal branch proceeds backwards to the coccyx, penetrates into the spinal column and continues upwards. It is unclear, where this pathway terminates.

Note: the first-aid point in cases of deep unconsciousness is located in the middle of the chin.
