This yang pathway ascends from the hand to the head. It begins on the lateral side of the tip of the little finger and proceeds along the lower side of the elbow to the posterior side of the shoulder and over the shoulder blade below the 7th cervical vertebra. From there it proceeds forward into the hollow above the clavicle, where it branches in two directions. One leads downwards across a connecting line into the heart, stomach and small intestine. The other, leads upwards along the throat to the outer corner of the eye and from there penetrates into the ear. A short branch leads from the jaw to the inner corner of the eye, where it joins the pathway of the urinary bladder.
