FUNCTIONS OF THE PATHWAY:

It directs and regulates mobility of the lower limbs and their joint function . It propagates and accumulates nourishing energy on the surface of the body. It forms a mutually complementary pair with the yin connective tissue meridian. It supplies the eyes with nutrients and thus participates in opening and closing the eyelids and in the alternation of sleep and vigilance. It maintains the eyes open and the mind alert.

A yang paired pathway. It leads from the external ankle along the side of the body to the armpit and shoulder, then continues across the neck and face to the inner corner of the eye, across the forehead, up to the head.
